Umpire Live uses some information that may be considered sensitive. The application uses location information to present game scores to spectators according to proximity. Umpires opportunity to allow or disallow their location information to be used. Umpire Live only uses location information when the application is being used for umpiring a game or when a spectator is searching for games they are interested in.

Umpire Live also makes use of the device's camera to enable umpires to scan a barcode from a grid sheet printed via its companion app, Bracket Ace, to improve the speed in which an umpire can set up to umpire a game, and to enhance overall tournament efficiency by sharing results with the Bracket Ace app so that tournament directors do not have to record results themselves.
